In 1985, Krka was recognized as a national park. Located in the valley of the Krka River in central Dalmatia, this park covers 109 square kilometers of hilly terrain, including cascading waterfalls and green plains. Krka is renowned as the largest place in Europe with waterfall cascades, seven of which are found along the entire river. The largest among them is Skradinski Buk, located in the lower part of the river and spanning 400 meters, including 17 waterfalls of varying heights. The entire hilly landscape of the park is adorned with lush vegetation. Around 860 plant species create a magnificent variety of local flora. The park is home to over 220 bird species, including eagles and falcons, and serves as a migratory route for them, attracting ornithologist researchers to the park.
